Centerforce Clutch : In the Center of Things

Anybody with a manual transmission vehicle knows the value of a good and working clutch. It not only provides extra power for the vehicle, as well as making the ride as comfortable as possible. Clutches work by releasing the spring pressure when the clutch pedal is stepped on, and this pushes or pulls the pressure plate’s diaphragm. The friction plate is then released and allowed to rotate freely.

There are many clutch designs, each one suitable for a particular type of application. Most basic of all is with one or more friction discs pressed tightly together or to a flywheel by springs. The friction discs are made from materials similar to what brake pads and shoes are made from. However, heavy duty vehicles such as trucks and competition cars use ceramic clutches. Ceramic clutches have a very high friction coefficients, making them very “grabby” and unfit for road cars. “Wet” clutches are engulfed in lubricating fluid, hence the name. The fluid cools the clutch, aside from keeping the surface clean, giving a smoother ride and a longer clutch lifespan. On the other hand, a “dry” clutch is not immersed in lubricating fluid. That robs it of some of it’s energy. “Wet” clutches can sometimes slip, so stacking many clutch discs can compensate for the problem.

When it comes to performance clutches, a name that can be trusted to deliver is Centerforce. It is relied upon by many professional drivers to provide them with a quality performance. Centerforce’s DFX technology is built with the serious competition driver in mind. It represents Centerforce’s commitment to the highest performance and strict quality control, so one can be sure of his choice. Centerforce DFX is the result of high-tech engineering and design, so it provides the ultimate in clutch technology. The DFX is built to withstand the punishment today’s competition engines can provide, with their large horsepower and torque output.

The Centerforce DFX clutch series is engineered for today’s competition, with quality, craftsmanship and standard’s foremost considerations. You can feel its power the moment you drive a DFX-equipped vehicle. It can be applied to high-end application such as competition driving. The DFX series is built using Centerforce’s patented ball bearing technology, wherein the pressure plate’s diaphragm is actuated using ball bearings. This results in an easy pedal pressure, with smooth engagements and without detrimental effects to the vehicle’s release components. The Centerforce DFX provides the best drivability available from a race-inspired clutch, thanks to its holding capacity and strength. This strength comes from its billet steel construction, which exceeds the specifications for maximum safety and performance levels.

The Centerforce DFX series utilize the Nodular Iron pressure plate rings and reinforcements. This is designed to prevent breakage of the drive strap, and also for for additional safety. The DFX series also allows the user to customize and innovate, and to tailor-made the vehicle’s performance and driving style, courtesy of its wide range of choices, from clutches to clutch discs. From street/drag to full-blown competition driving, there is a Centerforce clutch for you.
